VTU is one of the largest technological University in India, with 186 colleges affiliated with graduate courses in 28 disciplines and PG Programme in 71 disciplines. Intake of UG level is about 67 100 students in the PG level it is about 12 666 students.
The University has 13 QIP center in affiliated colleges and 16 extension centers to offer PG program. There are more than 2305departments recognized as research centers. As more than 1800 students / teachers registered for Ph.D. and more than 180 students enrolled in the MSc .. (Engg). This year the University's allocation of 120 Ph.D. and 50 MS (Engg) degree. The department has published approximately 694 research publications in 2009-10.
